Soluble pesticides are carried away by water molecules during precipitation events. The same percolate through the soil layers eventually reaching groundwater or surface water through run-off. Consequently, the water quality deteriorates exposing.
Pesticides and Herbicides
While water disinfection has effectively prevented waterborne diseases, an unintended consequence is the generation of disinfection by-products (DBPs) which occurs naturally when chlorine combines with natural compounds. Epidemiological studies have consistently observed an association between consumption of chlorinated drinking water with an increased risk of bladder cancer.
Disinfection By-products or Trihalomethanes
